WINTER BLUES

Hi all,

This weekend has been extremely frustrating as the wintry weather saw Harrogate Town's game postponed. I promised I would update my readers on the current situation at Town. The playing squad are on the transfer list as they refused to take a pay cut. Also the Chief Executive has denied that there are any great problems but I don't believe him!
England's cricketers were completely thrashed in the 1st Test against the West Indies in Jamaica. We were bowled out for a pathetic 51 when we needed 74 to make the Windies bat again! This was England's third lowest total in Tests, their lowest being 45 which I think was 'achieved' about a century ago but their second lowest was 46 against - yes - the West Indies at Trinidad in 1994. The captain on that tour Mike Atherton is now a commentator with SKY sports and he took a fair bit of stick when they brought up the table of the lowest totals made by England! Obviously we hope for a huge improvement in the second Test in Antigua, starting next Friday.

Will keep you posted on Town.

See ya!

GREETINGS

Hi everybody,

This is my first blog of 2009 - sorry I haven't submitted for some time, I have been rather carried away with my new toy FACEBOOK!
Well it's been a strange old weekend. It started off well enough as I went to see Elle and Joel in Leeds and spent Friday night there and had a wicked time! On Saturday afternoon I went to see Harrogate Town in action (or not as was the case!) at home to Stalybridge Celtic. We lost 1-0 due to the most outrageous communication breakdown between our defender and goalkeeper. We are conceding an awful number of goals at present and our Manager has said that we seem to be finding different ways of leaking goals at the moment! Due in part to the economic downturn, Town's players had been requested to take a cut in their wages. This is bad in itself but as I discovered on the Town website last night the entire playing squad have been put on the transfer list. While one cannot dismiss the impact that the credit crunch is having, I don't think Town have helped themselves as attendances are poor plus we had been knocked out of all the cup competitions before the turn of the year.
This is very scary and I will give you the latest in my next blog.

All the best

William
